MED ADVANTAGE ACQUIRES ALLIANCE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD AGREEMENT.
Orlando, FL., Feb. 23, 1996 - Med Advantage announced today that it has contracted
with Alliance BlueCross BlueShield, owned and operated by RightCHOICE Managed Care.
The Alliance serves Missouri and contiguous states.
Having completed the contract negotiation and RFP process, Med Advantage was selected
as the credentialing outsourcing vendor. Financial details were not disclosed.
"We are extremely pleased to be associated with the Blues systems" said
John C. Barrett, Vice President of Med Advantage. " We are taking an approach
that bridges the gap between managed care organizations and their providers".
Alliance Medical Director, Dr. Joseph R. Huguenard. says "Med Advantage will
assist us in reaching national accreditation with the National Committee for Quality
Assurance (NCQA) by simplifying the credentialing process."
Med Advantage will take the Alliance BlueCross BlueShield data on the providers
in the HMO and the PPO and populate an application. The application will be sent
to the providers in the network for updates and corrections, instead of sending
out a blank application. This process will allow for a much smoother credentialing
process.
Med Advantage is considered one of the largest Credentialing Verification Organizations
(CVO) in the country. Med Advantage is currently in the process of receiving its
own Accreditation from NCQA and should receive notification some time later in 1996.
The database which Med Advantage has compiled currently holds over 700,000 providers
and has over 4.3 million elements verified according to both NCQA and The Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
