MED ADVANTAGE RECEIVES NCQA CERTIFICATION
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 18, 1996--Med Advantage announced
Wednesday that it has received certification from the National Committee for Quality
Assurance (NCQA) effective for 12 months in the following standards:
CR 5.1 License
CR 5.2 Hospital privileges
CR 5.3 DEA certificate
CR 5.4 Board certification, residency, medical school
CR 5.5 Work history
CR 5.6 Malpractice policy
CR 5.7 Claims history
CR 7.1 NPDB
CR 7.3 Medicare/Medicaid sanctions

clients. This certification demonstrates to managed care organizations that Med Advantage
is continually working to improve the quality and accountability of information provided
to our clients," said Dr. John B. Witty, president of Med Advantage. "As a
Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) this certification is a fundamental foundation
for the continued growth of our organization as a leader among CVO's".
The National Committee for Quality Assurance, located in Washington DC, is an independent,
non-profit organization that certifies credentials verification organizations, and
accredits managed care organizations.
Med Advantage, a nationwide CVO, has been providing credentialing services to the managed
care industry for over three years. The organization has a database of approximately
850,000 MD's and DO's. The database holds over 4.6 million verified elements of
information such as education, (including medical school, internships, residency and
fellowships), Board Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS),
DEA certification from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA'), Medicare and Medicaid sanctions
from the Department of Health and Human services (DHHS) and license verifications from
state licensing agencies.
Med Advantage offers organizations such as HMO's, PPO's, IPA's, PHO's and Hospitals the
opportunity to outsource portions or all of the credentialing process.
